NEW LENOX — Kids will have plenty to do at the French Market’s grand opening May 12. Home Depot will sponsor a flower potting class, just in time for Mother’s Day.

The fire department will feature its Touch A Truck program. Kids are invited to explore the ladder truck, Trustee Annette Bowden said.

Other ongoing events will include a collection for the New Lenox Food Pantry. Lincoln-Way High School students will provide musical entertainment each week. Shoppers can look forward to cooking demonstrations, raffle prizes, hands-on workshops and other children’s activities.

The fire department will have its recycling trailer on site.

Several of the vendors from last year will return. They include Illinois and Wisconsin cheeses from Stamper Cheese and fresh produce and flowers from Zeldenrust Farms and KAP Farms. Labriola bread, pastries and baked goods will come from Hahn Bakery. Dan-Dee Creation will feature specialty foods, dips, breads and muffins. Lou’s Old Fashioned will have local pickles, beets, preserves, salsas, pie fillings, mustards, and apple and pumpkin butters.

The Art Box will sell ceramic tiles and pearl jewelry.

The French Market will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through September in the Village Hall south parking lot. More information is available at www.newlenox.net.
